Yonas Millares  //  The Monetary World

“The Monetary World” – globalization, repression, hate, escapism. I have developed my own patterns with that inspiration-sentence.

The aestetical inspiration I did find in chilean ethnical streetart, and in the easy graphical form-language of indigenous.

The work transformed more and more into an associative game with forms and symbols. I wanted to go deeper in a grid I had´t seen anyone else use. An experiment of the world in patterns. Something anthropological appeared. New ideas came up.

I wanted every pattern to have a strong expression so I worked a lot with dualities as:
Woman/man, black/white, power/repression, love/hate, one color/”every color”, god/evil, small/big, etc.

I was surprised of how much I could express with only one grid. How much could I see there? My associations developed more and more during the process – so to the conclusion that I could come up with as many as ever – and continue with the same width and variation. I already have sketches of 10 more which I want to complete. So it is going to be a “The Monetary World II”. My ideas got more and more complicated which also made the work funnier.

The material I used I found on the streets – and it helped me to express a world captured in the frame of big multimillionaire companies which have all the power and continues to rule it.

The Monetary World

“The Monetary World”.
