Interior Architecture and Furniture Design

Bachelor students
Interior Architecture and Furniture Design
Fifteen exciting Bachelors’ projects have been set in motion, all the dreams and reflections must take form in ten hectic weeks.

Here there are rooms that resemble small, secret closets and room creations in the form of models and films: other rooms have been inspired by the movement of textiles and the way in which they filter or by the drapings of fashionable garments: floors that pose questions about the relationship of human beings to space and concepts of meals and a dining table that functions as the ideal meeting point. The objects and furniture in rooms can always be explored further. Here there is an extremely personal item of furniture, with no thought of anything but the ego, as well sculptural furniture and the beloved rocking chair, the symbol of calm relaxed seatedness. But here too we find edifying furniture where the choice of item and form of manufacture integrate the user and the somewhat more theoretical project that wants to find a design method and design according to it. Here there is even furniture that wants to move into the world of paradise as well as a project on the fragility and transience of the products, a work that in a spring when Japan has been afflicted incredibly severely by earthquakes and a tsunami seems very close to us.

You stray wonderfully in every direction, your projects are playful and moving – stick to your guns, I believe in you.

Some of you are choosing to spend a further two years at Konstfack, others want perhaps to work for a year but we hope you will then return to take your Master’s degrees.

Karin Nyrén, Professor of Interior Architecture
