Based on qualitative interviews, the work studies how young transgender people make use of video diaries and digital narratives on YouTube. Opportunities for identification, seeking and sharing information, and narratives that would otherwise not be given space are created through the video sharing site. The study focuses on how those who watch make use of the video clips in different ways, in some cases as a conscious strategy of empowerment, as an information tool, or in their own identity work.
Arbetet undersöker, utifrån kvalitativa intervjuer, hur unga transpersoner använder sig av videodagböcker och digitala berättelser på Youtube. Genom videodelningssajten skapas möjligheter till sökande och delande av information, identifikation, och en plats för berättelser som annars inte ges plats. Undersökningen fokuserar på hur de som tittar använder sig av videoklippen på olika sätt; som ett informationsverktyg, som en del i ett självstärkande arbete, och i det egna identitetsarbetet.
